Project
Overview
Problem
We’ve probably all had the experience of dropping off a bag of old clothes outside anywhere. But did you ever wonder what happens to the mound of goods in these piles? And those totally worn-out boots you reluctantly threw in the trash? Their fate is not so pretty.

The clothing that ends up in landfills can sit there for
200-plus years, and as it decomposes, it emits methane—a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon. There’s a lot of misinformation out there, so we did some digging and followed the paths that old clothes might take once they leave our hands.
Solution
The goal of this project was to create a channel between the old clothes owner and the service provider (who may refurbish, renew, repair those clothes) so that the utilization phase of fabric increases to avoid under-utilization of clothes ending in landfills and incineration. For this, we have created a SaaS-based platform that is targeted to enhance the circularity of clothes.

Clothing Market
The world now consumes about 80 billion pieces of clothing every year. This is 400% more than the amount consumed just two decades ago. Historically, clothing has been something we have held into for a long time, but with cheap clothing now abundantly available we are beginning to see the things we wear as disposable.

My
Learning
  • A good sampling strategy is very important for the success of qualitative research output.
  • I should have recorded all the interviews, I won't know which quote or what information is needed at the end of the research.
  • Each User is Different in terms of experience, problems, understanding etc.
  • This idea had the potential to generate revenue, as it consists of a service that will create employment, circularity, environmental concern which I learned during the research phase.
